Taxonomy Identification: Family Lasiocampidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Overall rich golden brown with darker lines and small white eye-spot on forewing. Hind-wings darker.
Size: Wingspan 45-60 mm
Comments & Applications: Distributed in the southern part of Britain. Its common name is derived from the habits of the caterpillar, which is supposed to have a liking for drops of dew.
