Taxonomy Identification: Family Lasiocampidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Overall colour a rich autumn brown with fine black lines on the forewing. Hind-wing sooty brown. Some examples exhibit a yellow tinge.
Size: Wingspan 45-80 mm
Comments & Applications: A widespread European moth, resembling a dried leaf when at rest. A curious and seldom offered species, similar to our native lappet moth. Ideal for reference collections, education, film, media, artistry and interior design
