Taxonomy Identification: Family Sphingidae. First named by Boisduval in 1834
Colour: The forewings are dark olive green/brown with a pale bar and cream lateral lines. The hindwings are pink, with black and white edges. Abdomen is dark olive green with cream stripes.
Size: Wingspan 60-75 mm
Comments & Applications: This is an extremely rare collectable hawkmoth closely related to Hyles euphorbiae existing in many isolated populations which have developed into distinct subspecies. Commonly known as the Barbary Spurge Hawkmoth, or in France the Sphinx du Tithymale. A moth for the artisan collector or high end framing art/design sector.
