Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Hübner in 1803.
Colour: Forewings pale ochreous brown. Male has darker black markings/spots, absent in female. Hindwings dusky white in the male and plain white in the female.
Size: Wingspan 34-40 mm
Comments & Applications: A scarce species, with a scattered distribution in parts of England and Wales, occupying marshes and fenland. Seldom offered for sale, a connoisseur species.
