Taxonomy Identification: Family Lymantridae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: The overall colour is white with black zig-zag lines or arches. Hindwings grey.
Size: Wingspan Males 36-40mm – Females 42-53mm
Comments & Applications: One of Britain’s more colourful species of moth. This species is distributed over the southern half of Britain frequenting woodland habit. Always popular with Lepidopterists and perfect for photography, interior design: frames, domes, art and craft.
