Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1767.
Colour: Forewings greyish ochreous, tinged with olive brown with black streak and white ‘L’ shaped mark. Hindwings grey.
Size: Wingspan 29-35 mm
Comments & Applications: A scarce British species restricted to the southern counties of England from Cornwall eastwards to Kent. Distinctive ‘L’ shaped white mark on forewing. Seldom offered for sale, a connoisseur species.
