Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Treitschke in 1825.
Colour: Forewings pale ochreous with slight dark dusting and a faint reddish tinge; with outer row of black dots, three of which are prominent. Hindwings whiteish grey fringe.
Size: Wingspan 32-40 mm
Comments & Applications: A more scare species with scattered distribution throughout England and Wales, inhabiting reedbeds. Useful in education, reference collections, film, media, artistry and interior design, frames and domes.
