Taxonomy Identification: Family Geometridae. First named by Hufnagel in 1767
Colour: Overall tan base colour, with darker reddish-purple patches and brown patterns. Forewings have a distinct white crescent shape. Hind-wings coloured similar but with a black spot.
Size: Wingspan 30-38 mm
Comments & Applications: Found throughout England and Wales, scarce or absent further north. A lovely shaped moth with pointed wings and scalloped edges.
