Taxonomy Identification: Family Geometridae. First named by Haworth in 1809
Colour: Forewings silvery-grey, with single black spot on all four wings. Hindwings pale.
Size: Wingspan 24-28 mm
Comments & Applications: A widespread species found throughout Britain, occupying woodland margins and hedgerows. As its common name suggests a very early species on the wing in January and February. Ideal for Entomological reference collections, education, film, media, artistry and interior design
