Taxonomy Identification: Family Sphingidae. First named by Pallas in 1772
Colour: The topside (recto) forewings are green to olive brown with darker green bars. The hind-wings are yellowish orange with a margin of black. The underside (verso) is patterned similar in green but lacks the yellow.
Size: Wingspan 36-45mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful hawk-moth residing along streams and rivers where the larval food plant grows. Very rarely offered for sale, now listed as protected across Europe. We are pleased to be able to offer pre-legislation captive bred examples from Eastern Europe. A desirable species among collectors perfect for high end applications.
