Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Denis & Schiffermüller in 1775.
Colour: Forewing reddish brown with prominent yellow centre bar. Hind wings ivory with dark yellow edge.
Size: Wingspan 27-32 mm
Comments & Applications: Mainly distributed in the south and south-east of England, absent further north. Inhabits wooded valleys, downland and southern heaths.
Perfect if you are starting your own British Moth reference collection. Also useful in education, film, media, artistry and interior design, frames and domes.
