Taxonomy Identification: Family Zygaenidae. First named by Ochsenheimer in 1808
Colour: Blue-black or green-black forewings, whose inner angles are strongly rounded off. On the forewings there are five or six red spots, two of which are always close together. Hind-wings red with narrow black margin.
Size: Wingspan 25-33mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful shimmering red and black day flying moth. Restricted to mountainous regions between 1000 and 2100m elevation. Seldom offered. One for the serious connoisseur collector.
