Taxonomy Identification: Family Zygaenidae. First named by Hohenwarth, 1792
Colour: Forewings blueish black base colour with small red spots. Hind-wings red with narrow black margin.
Size: Wingspan 25-33mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful shimmering red and black day flying moth. Restricted to Braemar Aberdeenshire, found above 6000 meters. Very seldom offered. One for the serious connoisseur collector.
