Taxonomy Identification: Family Zygaenidae. First named by Scheven in 1777
Colour: Usually the forewings show five bright red spots or streaks quite variable in shape, with almost transparent greyish-bluish edges. Hind-wings are red edged in blue-black.
Size: Wingspan 30-46mm
Comments & Applications: A beautiful shimmering red and black day flying moth with multiple variants depending on location. Commonly known as the Narrow bordered five-spot burnet. The moth is widespread in Europe, and we are happy to offer cabinet specimens for entomological reference collectors and applications in art and craft projects.
