Taxonomy Identification: Family Noctuidae. First named by Hufnagel in 1766.
Colour: Extremely variable colouration. Forewing varies from chestnut brown to dark brown with distinct square spot. Hind wings paler cream-white to brown.
Size: Wingspan 27-30 mm
