Taxonomy Identification: Family Erebidae > Arctiidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Overall sooty brown to black colouration with a red collar at base of head. Abdomen tip is yellow.
Size: Wingspan 25-35 mm
Comments & Applications: A rare and local woodland species, which is distributed locally in the south and west of England and Wales.
