Taxonomy Identification: Family Erebidae > Arctiidae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Overall colouration variable from pale yellow to deep orange, forewings covered in tiny black spots, with additional black spots on the hind-wings of males (sometimes absent). Wings edged in darker yellow border.
Size: Wingspan 27-33 mm
Comments & Applications: A localised costal species occurring from Southern England up to the Hebrides. The moths English name derives from the moth’s habit of hanging from a blade of grass or leaf when at rest in the day, giving it a transparent “dew-like” appearance.
