Taxonomy Identification: Family Erebidae » Arctiinae. First named by Hufnagel in 1766
Colour: Males are a yellowish-buff, while females are coloured cream-buff. Considerable variation with some spectacular aberrations.
Size: Wingspan 28-48 mm
Comments & Applications: A well known and attractive moth. Widely distributed and fairly common over much of Britain. We have some 1950’s aberrations with vivid black markings.
Perfect if you are starting your own British Moth reference collection. Also useful in education, film, media, artistry and interior design, frames and domes.
