Taxonomy Identification: Family Erebidae, Arctiinae. First named by Linnaeus in 1758
Colour: Variable colouration, forewings white with speckled spots of black and crimson red.
Size: Wingspan 32-42 mm
Comments & Applications: A spectacular species, but unfortunately only a sporadic migrant to the United Kingdom with around 100 records in the last century. native to the Mediterranean and North Africa.
